Just thort i say something about his name.
I love embrace but Danny wasnt named after Danny McNamana. I have a lot ask me but Danny was born b4 embrace came out.
Danny Oliver was born on 17th January 1993. We didnt know that Danny had down syndrome when i was pregnant so it came as a shock but to look at him, his little face was so perfect. He was poorly at first n couldnt suck from a bottle so he ended up going into the special care baby unit for a week. We had to be taught how to tube feed him if he wouldnt drink but we persevered n he learned how to do it. He was always poorly though with coughs n colds n he couldnt breathe properly, so he spent most of his first 6 months in hospital. Call it mothers insticts but i know something was wrong, so at 8 months old, we took him to hospital n refused to move until we had a second opinion. A doctor called Dr Kean came to see him n examined him. She wasnt happy with the way his heart sounded n sent a doctor from Leeds to come and examine him. He had a heart defect n needed surgery so he was put on the waiting list n heart medicine to keep him going until the operation could be done.
When he was 11 months old, we got the awaited phone call and he was sceduled to have the operation on the 13th december 1993. A week before the operation, he got pneumonia but doctors thought they should still do the operation. It went well even though he was really ill and in intensive care for a week. He was released on christmas eve even tho he was still poorly but it was a lovely christmas present to have him home with the family.
He was very floppy when he was born n he seemed to be double-jointed. He used to be able to go from sitting to crawling position by pulling his legs around him. It looked really painful. He had to wear special shoes made for him and have walking aids. He walked (well ran) on his 4th birthday n it was a real milestone n we cryed with joy. He was diagnosed with partial deafness when he was really young and has to wear hearing aids all the time.
At 3 years old he started school at Fernbank. He loves school even now which is a good thing. His friends at school are Jamie, Katie n Lucy. He loves Katie n has known her a long time. When he was 7 years old he had trouble with sleeping coz he couldnt breathe again properly so he went into hospital again for his tonsils n adanoids out. He started sleeping better thank goodness.
When Danny was 8 years old, Dannys dad n i split up. I dont really know if it affected him apart from in his behaviour coz it went pretty bad after that. He liked to push people n stuff, but it is getting better now.
At the minute, Danny has alopecia n a condition where extra bones grow in his body. He has around 10 extra bones which r like lumps that come up. They dont hurt him but need to take him back to hospital if any do start hurting him.
bless him, he has had a rough time in his little life but he still keeps smiling and we admire him for everything hes been through.
At the minute, he is 14 years old n has hit teenage years. He loves going swimming, watching eastenders which he goes on the computer every day n watches all the older ones too. He loved Dennis Rickman but also loves Phil Mitchell.
His other love is the kaiser Chiefs. His favourite song changes but at the minute its Born to be a Dancer. He treasures his cd employment n cant wait for them to bring a new cd out n i am gonna take him to see them when they next tour. He will love that as hes always watching them on the music channel.

we finally got Danny to a kaisers gig and he loved every minute of it. he was really quiet during the gig and listened so intently but once they came offstage he sang ruby all the way to the car. It was one of the most amazing days of my life and was worth every penny.
